Meet Your Editor | Amy Harrell Smith

Hi, I’m Amy — author, editor, minister, homeschooling mom of four amazing kids, and wife to Tim. I believe deeply in the power of words to inspire, to instruct, and especially to glorify God.

My journey with language started early; I fell in love with grammar and proofreading back in 12th grade AP English class, and that love never left.

Throughout my career, whether in professional offices, federal government, or a 501(c)3 nonprofit, I quickly became the person others trusted to review and refine written communication. It’s a role I naturally grew into and genuinely enjoy.

But editing isn’t my only calling. I served in a staff ministry position for 18 years at our local church — the church my family pioneered when I was 13 years old. As an ordained minister, I’m passionate about teaching the Word of God and helping others walk more closely with Him. That passion shows up in every project I take on, especially when working with Christian authors who are writing to equip, encourage, and edify the Body of Christ.

Today, through Precision Book Editing, I offer a full menu of editing, formatting, & other support services tailored especially for self-publishing authors. I’ve also written and published four books of my own (and counting), so I know firsthand how personal and vulnerable this process can be.

My goal is to help you polish your message without compromising your voice — and to make sure the final result reflects the excellence your message deserves.

Do I only work on Christian projects? Not exclusively. While I specialize in working with Christian authors, I’m happy to consider other projects as long as the content aligns with my values. That means no profanity, vulgarity, or morally objectionable material.
